Clinical Nurse Manager (full-time Monday – Friday) in Del Norte (for hospital and emergency department).

Job Description: Rio Grande Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our management team as Clinical Nurse Manager . We are looking for individuals who are looking to take the next step in their careers and be part of a growing organization that offers individuals the opportunity to not only learn but grow into exciting new avenues of nursing.  In this role, the Clinical Nurse Manager  will assist Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards governing critical access hospitals.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current, Unencumbered Colorado Registered Nurse License, CPR, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC or PALS (strongly recommended)

Experience: Must have experience in emergency department and inpatient nursing. Previous leadership experience in a critical access hospital is highly recommended. Must be knowledgeable of general nursing and medical practices and procedures and laws, regulations and guidelines governing critical access hospital care, including swing beds.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent written and verbal skills to present information and ideas essential to supervisory duties and to understand general nursing theory and practice. Must be knowledgeable of current nursing and medical practices and procedures. Working knowledge of the rules and regulations pertaining to Critical Access Hospitals. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours. Must have basic computer skills including word and excel.  Must exhibit excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude towards patients, visitors, and staff members.  Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance. and good judgment.

Degree of Supervision Required: Must be able to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Must be a self-starter who can independently seek solutions to complex problems and follow through on projects to completion. Will report to the CNO.

Specific duties and responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Participate in developing, maintaining, and periodically updating written nursing policies, procedures, and protocols. Assist CNO in providing general orientation, mandatory in-services, continuing education, and other training to meet all department and facility needs and regulatory requirements. Oversee scheduling of nursing staff to ensure proper staffing ratios in nursing departments. In conjunction with the CNO, must be able to interview, select, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise nursing staff. Must be willing to work alongside staff nurses in the emergency department and inpatient setting filling in various shifts as needed.  Implement plans of action to correct deficiencies. Must be able to assist in directing the Nursing Services department. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Ensure nursing services personnel are performing their respective duties by weekly review of nurse staff notes to ensure proper documentation is maintained relating to treatment, medications, and conditions. Conducts quality of care audits at the direction of the CNO. Participate in surveys and inspections by government agencies Report problems areas to the CNO and assist in developing corrective actions. Other duties may be assigned based on facility needs.
