Maintenance Technician – Performs relatively unskilled duties involved in maintaining equipment, machinery, and physical structure of the hospital in good repair and working order.

 

  • One to two years general maintenance experience required
  • Hospital facilities or healthcare construction experience, preferred
  • Strong communication skills; ability to read, write.
  • Basic computer skills
  • HS GED Required
  • Valid state driver’s license Required
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams (desirable)
  • Quality Improvement Process
  • Demonstrate experience (1-2 yrs) and proficiency in the following areas: Maintenance plumbing; Maintenance Electrical; Carpentry; General equipment repair
  • Two years of power plant operator experience, preferred
  • Knowledge of boilers, pumps gauges, heating units and systems, hand tools, generators, ventilation equipment, plumbing fixtures and all heating and cooling distribution systems.
  • Has a working knowledge of regulations imposed by local, state or other hospital authorities
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems as necessary
  • Read and interprets blueprints and schematics
  • Proficient with multiple Building Automation System functions
  • Prioritizing work as to immediate need.
  • Anticipates maintenance needs before they become a problem or a safety hazard.
  • Works well under pressure of time constraints.
  • Mows, trims, waters, plants, prunes and otherwise maintains lawns, flowerbeds, shrubs and trees.
  • Performs maintenance and repair of parking lots and equipment (i.e. lawnmowers, snow plows and sander). 
  • Removes trash, fallen leaves, snow and ice from grounds and parking lots.
  • Keeps drainage ditches and culverts free of obstructions. 
  • Connects and maintains lawn and flowerbed sprinkling equipment and systems.
  • Inspects grounds and parking lots to ensure safe conditions.

May include upkeep of hospital grounds, disposal of trash and waste materials, and/or driving light truck to make pickups and deliveries in local area.
