Phlebotomist (Part-time) Performs routine technical work in laboratory under the direction of the clinical laboratory technologist. Responsible for phlebotomy services, including obtaining patient lab specimens through venipuncture and other technologies as ordered by a physician for outpatient, inpatient, ED and nursing home specimens. Responsible for answering phones, EMR and LIS data entry, specimen accessioning, maintaining phlebotomy supplies and other duties. May process and package specimens for send out testing. May perform DOT urine collections and breath alcohol testing as deemed necessary by the laboratory supervisor. Properly identifies patient, collects and labels blood samples and sends to laboratory for analysis per physician request. May perform special tests such as fingerstick INR, glucose tolerance tests and therapeutic phlebotomies. Maintains detailed documentation of tests performed and blood samples collected. May be assigned other duties as seen necessary by the laboratory supervisor.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Phlebotomy experience. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must have excellent verbal skills to present information and ideas essential to supervisory duties and understand general laboratory practices; capable of working closely with patients and other staff members; workable knowledge of safety procedures; must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language; must have patience and enthusiasm as well as the willingness and ability to handle difficult situations with good judgment; must be able to work as a team player; must be flexible and able to work scheduled shifts; must be willing to learn. Requirements:
Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED
Required Colorado Licensure/Certification
One year Experience preferred, but not required.
