What is a CHNA?

A Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) is a comprehensive process that allows us to understand the health and wellness needs of the communities we serve. Every three years, nonprofit hospitals like ours are required to conduct a CHNA to identify the most pressing health concerns in our area. This helps us prioritize our resources and develop strategies to address those needs.

Why is the CHNA Important?

The CHNA is more than just a requirement; it’s a vital tool for improving the health and well-being of our community. Here’s why:

  1. Identifies Community Needs: The CHNA helps us understand the unique health challenges and needs of our community members. By gathering input from residents like you, we can see where the greatest needs are, whether it’s mental health support, chronic disease management, access to healthcare, or other critical areas.
  2. Informs Health Programs and Services: The information we collect during the CHNA process guides us in developing programs and services that directly address the identified needs. This means that your feedback can lead to the creation of new health initiatives, educational resources, and community outreach efforts that benefit everyone.
  3. Supports Funding and Resources: When we clearly understand our community’s needs, we can better allocate our resources and seek additional funding to support essential programs. Your input makes a big difference in how we shape the future of healthcare in our area.
