GRAND OPENING SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 22, 2024 – MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW

We are excited about our future Wellness Center! The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the construction site adjoining the Rio Grande Hospital on Thursday, June 15, 2023. Since then, the construction has been moving forward as planned.

Arlene Harms, CEO of Rio Grande Hospital, Phipps Construction, Keyes & Lauer Architects, Joe Aldrich, Owners’ Rep, and some board members, and the community attended. The plan for the  9,000 square foot Rio Grande Wellness Center building.

When completed, the wellness village will occupy five acres adjoining the existing hospital campus and will include the multipurpose Wellness Center, four to six small housing units, and four RV hookups. The housing and RV hookup features will enable those who don’t live close by or who are visiting the area to spend time with loved ones in treatment or hospice without having to travel up to 90 miles plus-or-minus every day.

The Wellness Center is to advance health, wellness, and healing, moving beyond sick care treatment to prevention and well-being.

The facility will include:  

• A kitchen for healthy cooking and educational classes for healthy eating. 
• Fitness room to promote daily exercise.  
• Private meditation rooms.  
• Meeting rooms.  
• A community lounge.
• A large community conference room.
• Other patients, community, and staff-focused amenities.

These features will all be connected by an educational hallway displaying instructional information on nutrition and mindfulness.  

Status updates on progress will be ongoing until the Wellness Center opens.
