Kendra Cox, PA-C, joins us from Trinidad, Colorado, where she was raised, and most recently from Billings, Montana, where she earned her Physician Assistant degree. Her path into healthcare began at a young age. At just 12 years old, Kendra underwent scoliosis surgery and spent more than a week in the hospital was an experience that left a lasting impact on her life. Reflecting on that time, Kendra shared, “During my time in the hospital, I was able to understand these people really do make a difference in everyone’s lives they touch.” That early realization sparked a passion for healthcare that has guided her ever since.

Family has always been at the center of Kendra’s life. After completing her education in Montana, she felt called back to Colorado to be closer to loved ones. She now lives in Alamosa. With a smile, she says she enjoys helping guide them through early adulthood, “teaching them how to clean, organize, and be regular adult humans,” she laughs.

Outside of work, Kendra has a wide range of interests. She loves traveling, music, and reading, and reads about a book a week, completing 37 last year and already 6 this year. She also tap-danced for about 8 years, an impressive and fun fact that speaks to her creativity and dedication.

Kendra describes her professional goal simply and beautifully: to follow, understand, grow, and continue learning. She is excited to begin this next chapter at Rio Grande Hospital’s (RGH) clinic in Del Norte, and we are equally excited to support her journey.

When asked if there was a motto that resonates with her, she thoughtfully replied, “Soft heart, strong soul.” A soft heart and strong soul represent empathy, kindness, and compassion, paired with resilience, courage, and unwavering strength, are qualities that embody healthcare and align beautifully with our mission at RGH and what makes Kendra.
