Sterile Processing Tech (PRN) Del Norte: This is a dual role between surgical tech and sterile processing tech on surgery days. Primary duties would be setting up the operating room, assisting with patient care, assisting the surgeon in the operating room, and sterile processing instruments post-surgery.
Cleans and sterilizes instruments, supplies and equipment according to prescribed procedures and techniques. Uses detergents, antiseptic solutions, and semi-automatic to automatic sterilizing equipment. Disassembles items for cleaning and sterilizing; reassembles cleaned and sterilized items; identifies, dates, and stores cleaned sterilized items. May gather used items from other departments and returns them after sterilization. This position is responsible for stocking and inventory of all surgical items. This position will support Rio Grande hospitals and clinics including, but not limited to, follow up phone calls, chart preparation, unit clerk duties and other duties as assigned.

- Computer: Windows, Paylocity, Email, Basic computer skills, Electronic Medical Records
- Sterile Processing: Steris – Sterilization and Washer, Getinge – Sterilization
- Endoscopy: Fuji, Scope Buddy
- OR Equipment: Neptune, Cautery, Surgical Table, Smith and Nephew Equipment, Stryker Equipment
- Equipment Maintenance: Preventative Maintenance, Routine
Education: High School Diploma, Graduate from a formal accredited surgical technician training program (preferred) or trained in-house.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: CPR certification or obtain as soon as possible, OR Surgical Technician Certification with preferred License in Colorado.
Experience: Surgical Experience Preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must have verbal skills to present information and ideas essential to supervisory duties and to understand general nursing theory and practice; capable of dealing with people and working closely with patients; workable knowledge of safety procedures; must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language; must have patience and enthusiasm as well as the willingness and ability to handle difficult situations with good judgment; must be able to work as a team member; must be willing to learn.
