SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST (part-time) – Assists the surgical team in the care of the patient in the operating room. Surgical technologists work under the supervision and delegated authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures. Surgical technologists ensure the operating room is safe, adequately prepared with supplies and instrumentations for surgery, and that equipment functions properly. Surgical Technologist assist the surgeons and nursing staff in the performance of surgical procedures, assists in the transfer of patients to the post anesthesia recovery area and in the turnover of the operating room. This includes Certified Operating Room Technologist (CORTs) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) under this category. Requires certification as a surgical technologist. Regular – Surgery

Operating Room Assistant – Assist in the operating room function by cleaning and preparing operating rooms, retrieving equipment, stocking supplies and performing errands. Provide basic care services under the direct supervision of the nurse manager or registered nurse. Regular – Direct Patient Care

CENTRAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN – Cleans and sterilizes instruments, supplies and equipment according to prescribed procedures and techniques. Uses detergents, antiseptic solutions, and semi-automatic to automatic sterilizing equipment. Disassembles items for cleaning and sterilizing; reassembles cleaned and sterilized items; identifies, dates, and stores cleaned sterilized items. May gather used items from other departments and returns them after sterilization. May fill requisitions, record charges, and inventory stock. Regular – Engineering/ Maintenance

Position Requirements

· Licensure/Certification/Registration:
· CPR certification.
· Certification as OR Surgical Technician.
· Have current Surgical Tech License through the State of Colorado.
· Equipment Knowledge:
· Excellent Computer Skills, Copy Machine and Fax Machine, Printers, Cardiac Monitoring Equipment, Electronic Health Records
· Demonstrate competency in safely operating all electro-surgical, diagnostic, video equipment, disposable equipment, as well as equipment unique to each specialty area.
· Education and/or Experience:
· High School Diploma
· Graduated from a formal accredited surgical technician training program (preferred) or trained in-house.
· Surgical Experience Preferred.
· Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Must have verbal skills to present information and ideas essential to supervisory duties and to understand general nursing theory and practice; capable of dealing with people and working closely with patients; workable knowledge of safety procedures; must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language; must have patience and enthusiasm as well as the willingness and ability to handle difficult situations with good nursing judgment; must be able to work as a team member; must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures and regulations pertaining to Critical Access Hospitals or a willingness to learn.
· Demonstrates clinical competence in surgical technical skills, Sterile Processing, Endoscopy, and Materials Management Departments.
