Surgical technologist (part-time) in Del Norte– Assists the surgical team in the care of the patient in the operating room. Works under the supervision and delegated authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures. Ensures the operating room is safe, adequately prepared with supplies and instrumentations for surgery, and that equipment functions properly. Assists in the transfer of patients to the post anesthesia recovery area and in the turnover of the operating room including cleaning and preparing operating rooms, retrieving equipment, stocking supplies, and performing errands. May assist with cleaning and sterilizing instruments, supplies and equipment according to the manufacturer’s instructions for use.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: CPR certification or obtain as soon as possible, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) OR Certified Operating Room Technologist (CORTs) required.

OPERATING ROOM ASSISTANT – Assist in the operating room function by cleaning and preparing operating rooms, retrieving equipment, stocking supplies and performing errands. Provide basic care services under the direct supervision of the nurse manager or registered nurse. Regular – Direct Patient Care

Licensure/Certification/Registration: CPR certification or obtain as soon as possible, OR Surgical Technician Certification with preferred License in Colorado.

Equipment Knowledge:

  • Computer: Windows, Paylocity, Email, Basic computer skills, Security System, HVAC, EXITCARE Discharge Software, AMRITA – Electronic Health Record, Computer Systems (Microsoft Teams, EM Systems)
  • Sterile Processing: Steris – Sterilization and Washer, Getinge – Sterilization
  • OR Equipment: Neptune, Cautery, Surgical Table, Smith and Nephew Equipment, Stryker Equipment
  • Monitor: Nihon Kohden Telemetry, EKG Machines
  • Other: Crash Carts, Glucometers, Life Packs

Education: High School Diploma, Graduated from a formal accredited surgical technician training program (preferred) or trained in-house.

 Experience: Surgical Experience Preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:   Must have verbal skills to present information and ideas essential to supervisory duties and to understand general nursing theory and practice; capable of dealing with people and working closely with patients; workable knowledge of safety procedures;  must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language; must have patience and enthusiasm as well as the willingness and ability to handle difficult situations with good judgment; must be able to work as a team member;  must  be willing to learn.
