Ward Clerk (Primary)/Emergency Room Technician: (Full-time/Del Norte) Performs routine clerical work involving an elemental degree of skill and responsibilities in carrying out established procedures. The following examples are typical of the duties in this clerical level: posting, sorting, counting, recording information, answering telephone, routine filing, and limited typing. May also perform messenger duties. This is an entry-level clerical classification requiring only basic training and knowledge. Previous clerical experience and specialized skills are not usually required. EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE PROVIDER – Performs specialized life sustaining procedures in a hospital-based advanced care ambulance service. Responsible for providing immediate emergency care and transport of the critically ill or injured under direction of medical control physician. Levels of training: an individual who has successfully completed, as a minimum, the 1996 Emergency Medical Technician-Basic national standard curriculum, passed the department’s approved written and practical examinations and is currently certified as an EMT-B or above. EKG TECHNICIAN – Operates electrocardiograph machine to obtain tracings of electromotive variations in action of specific areas of heart muscle, for use in diagnosing heart ailments. Turns on machine and manipulates selector switch to secure tracings. Stops machine when complete set of tracings has been obtained. Removes electrodes from patient and tracings from machine. Reviews recording from each electrode for clear recording and deviations from normal.
Position Requirements
1. Licensure/Certification/Registration: CPR, Current Colorado Certification, unencumbered 2. Education: High School Diploma, Completion of an accredited Certified Nursing Program 3. Experience: Must have experience in medical surgical nursing or gerontology or must have a willingness to learn skills required in those areas. The Emergency Medical Technician must be able to communicate patients’ needs and relate information to Charge Nurse. 4. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must have verbal skills to present information and ideas essential to patient care duties and to understand general nursing theory and practice; capable of dealing with people and working closely with patients; workable knowledge of safety procedures; must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language; must have patience and enthusiasm as well as the willingness and ability to handle difficult situations with good nursing judgment; must be able to work as a team member. Must assist with the computer order entry for nursing staff 5. Degree of Supervision Required: Must be able to work as a team member with Registered Nursing, Licensed Practical Nurse and physicians; must be competent in certified nursing skills and be able to handle multiple issues at a time, completely and concisely.
